I'm in a rut..

I have found myself to be a in decorating rut. I would really like to paint soon but everyone is advising to wait a year. I can understand the 30 days but a WHHHOLLLEEEE year!?!? Ill never be able to hold out that long. I'm bored with the white walls and no hanging decor. Is there anyone out there that didn't want and regrets it? Our 30 day fixes were delayed until this week so I'm hoping after the few nail pops we have get fixed I can convince Chris to let me put a little color on our walls!!

  1. Our PM said it's ok to paint but you'll be responsible putting on the final layer of pain to match the color. They will prime the repaired area for you.

  2. Our neighbors painted early and they said they see every little imperfection now. We are holding out until after the first year.

  3. I'm thinking I can at least get a couple good coats of primer on the walls and then after 1 year I can paint color. We've been lucky to only have a hand full of nail pops thus far but I have been told by multiple people they will start to show once the weather gets warm for summer and cools off for winter. Thanks for your input!

  4. I would hang art and pictures on the walls. Maybe even use fabric on the larger walls to cover up the white paint. I agree living with white walls feels like a rental apartment, but it would be so frustrating to spend all that time painting only to have to do it again.

  5. Once we are in I know I can't wait. I got the slob proof paint pens so I can do easy fixes, but I also think its not too hard to roll out a quick coat of paint. I would rather do that than live with builder beige. I will not do the whole house at once, but we are going to start right away.

  6. I just feel like we haven't completely "moved in" because everything looks so blah and unfinished without paint. I guess only time will tell how long I can wait before I reach my breaking point and go on an impulse last minute trip to lowes for paint!

  7. We are planning on doing accent walls. Maybe just paint 1 or 2 walls in each room. Not as much painting to do in the beginning, and not a lot to redo if their are nail pops. A lot of the models in my area are also painted like this. Good luck!
